I bought something… L’Oreal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Boudoir Charme

Well, it was good while it lasted 🙂  Today I purchased a piece of makeup and broke my strict no-buy until the end of 2017.  I had a good run – about 2 months of not purchasing any makeup.

I’m not kicking myself for my purchase today though.  After decluttering all of the products that I wasn’t using, the sight of which was giving me stress and anger, and having a nice detox from makeup,  I feel like I’m in a better place with makeup. I still am steering clear of the buy buy buy mentality.  I no longer idly browse makeup aisles (…except for today when I went in to get a spoolie for my eye brows),  but I think this one small item should be fine.  The no buy will definitely resume after this!

Now what was it that broke my will and my no-buy?  This little guy:

L'Oreal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Boudoir Charme

It’s the L’Oreal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in the shade 106 Boudoir Charme.  It’s a beautiful mix of warm shimmery tones – a peachy gold, a bronze, a dusky mauve brown, and a cooler toned dark brown.  It’s PERFECT for summer! Like a bronze summer sunset.  What’s more, all the colors work with each other well, so I won’t ignore a color or two and waste them.

I have two other Colour Riche single shadows in Pain Au Chocolate and Violet Beaute.  I was blown away by the formula when I first got them last fall.  They are a creamy, buttery delight – like the best desserts.

The shadows in the Boudoir Charme quad are also pigmented and creamy, but they do not feel as creamy as my singles.  Did L’Oreal recently changed the formula of all the Colour Riche shadows or are the singles just creamier?  In any event, the shadows in this quad still apply like a dream, and I think the Colour Riche line is the best drugstore line of eye shadows.  The Best!

When I saw the Boudoir Charme quad in the store, I reached for it because it reminded me of another palette I have, the Becca Ombre Rouge Palette:

L'Oreal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Boudoir Charme and Becca Ombre Rouge

The Becca Palette is all matte, while the L’Oreal quad is all shimmery, but their essences are similar as you can see.  I looove the way the Becca Ombre Rouge palette makes my eyes look so soft, feminine, and beautiful with its muted purply, red shades.  They really work well with brown eyes, and I’ve been using the Ombre Rouge palette for the past few weeks exclusively.

So, I felt comfortable purchasing this L’Oreal quad because sometimes we want matte, sometimes we want shimmer to brighten the eyes, and sometimes we want both to work together 🙂
