This no-buy I set for myself is downgraded to a low-buy haha. Obviously, I love makeup, so let’s be real and give makeup a bigger space in my life. I’m still being careful of the colors and products I choose. It’s all about that balance 🙂 Anyway, I recently ordered some things from ELF, and I am so excited about them because they seem really good for us pale princesses. I’m probably most excited about about the new ELF Best Friend Eye Shadow Duo because the colors look promising and duos are easy and quick to use! Read on to see my thoughts.
Well, it was good while it lasted 🙂 Today I purchased a piece of makeup and broke my strict no-buy until the end of 2017. I had a good run – about 2 months of not purchasing any makeup.
I’m not kicking myself for my purchase today though. After decluttering all of the products that I wasn’t using, the sight of which was giving me stress and anger, and having a nice detox from makeup, I feel like I’m in a better place with makeup. I still am steering clear of the buy buy buy mentality. I no longer idly browse makeup aisles (…except for today when I went in to get a spoolie for my eye brows), but I think this one small item should be fine. The no buy will definitely resume after this!
Now what was it that broke my will and my no-buy? This little guy:
I’m excited to say that I am now the owner of Benefit’s Cheek Parade palette. The Benefit Cheek Parade palette was released recently, and I thought it was very pretty when I saw it online. I was most interested in Rockateur and the new Hoola Lite and Galifornia, though all 5 of the shades seem like they would complement pale skin beautifully. However, I have commitment issues with makeup palettes! I’m a firm believer that there are ALWAYS going to be a few shades that I will not use, and then I think it’s wasteful for me to purchase the whole palette if that is the case. Fast forward to today, when I saw the Cheek Parade with my own eyes at my local Sephora… I immediately grabbed it! Even though it’s in palette form, even though I know that I have enough blushes and bronzers that I love, I had a strong affirmation in the core of my gut that the Cheek Parade and I will have a long love affair, and that there is a very good possibility that I will use every. single. color. in this palette! I recently got my hands on some Korean beauty items and I am excited to write about my first impressions, especially the foundations. Finding a foundation for pale skin is hard enough, but add in Asian skin undertones and you sometimes have a whole new level of difficulty. Anyway, I thought testing some Korean brands would make finding foundations with the correct undertone a bit easier. My first review and first impressions will be on Missha’s The Original Tension Pact Natural Cover in the shade 21. Read on to see my thoughts!
I just wanted to share quickly that MAC is having a 25% off sale for MAC Select members! I think of MAC Select as like Sephora VIB. You accumulate points and get discounts once in a while. Sign up on their website for MAC Select (it’s free!) and you can get 25% off your purchase with code MAC25 online or in stores through March 20. I pounced on the MAC makeup sale and ordered a few goodies last night. As a pale princess, I’m the most excited about ordering the MAC Face and Body Foundation in the shade White! Yes, white!
I’ve been eyeing this for a loooong while but never wanted to spend $38 on it even though I knew I would get so much use out of it. Most foundations are too dark for me so having a white foundation to mix them with would make my makeup life so much easier! And when you think about it, $38 for 4 fl. oz. of foundation is pretty great. It’s comparable to drugstore prices per fluid ounce. I guess I was always hoping to find more foundations that I did not have to mix too, but those are a rare treasure. Whatever, I’m happy I held out for so long and snagged it on sale. 🙂
I confess I was cackling gleefully while ordering it last night for $28.50 after the discount. Just thinking about going through my foundation stash and mixing pretty much every single one with the white F&B foundation so that they all match my skin, neck, and chest perfectly just made me giddy. (insert googly heart eyes here)
I have never tried the white F&B foundation before, but I do have and adore the F&B foundation in the shade C1, so I’m pretty much certain I’ll love the white one too. I love the light, moisturizing, and comfortable texture of the F&B foundation, and how natural and lit from within my skin looks with it. C1 is a tad dark on me, so I absolutely cannot wait to mix them up! Also, my NC 15 Studio Sculpt foundation, and my L’Oreal True Match Lumi in W1-2, and my Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth in porcelain, and etc etc…
If you’re struggling to find a foundation light enough for you, I highly suggest you try a white foundation like the white F&B to mix with darker foundations and to take advantage of the 25% off MAC makeup sale right now!
All products mentioned were purchased by myself. All opinions are my own.
I have always admired the Bobbi Brown brand for its classic taste in makeup. It’s just kind of expensive, but I recently bit the bullet and got some everyday staples that I know I will use and love. Call it my Bobbi Brown essential starter kit, if you will. I purchased two eye shadows, Stone and Espresso, and a blush, Nude Peach, to dip my toes into the brand, and I’m excited to start using them! Read on for my thoughts on Bobbi Brown’s Stone, Espresso, and Nude Peach, especially if you want to start purchasing their makeup too but are not sure what to get!
As someone who loves to frequent all of the pharmacies, I recently found myself with a ton of extra care bucks from CVS. That is how I came to possess the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer – a relatively new bronzer for pale skin that I have heard a lot about! PF is rather expensive for the drugstore, so I don’t purchase their items as much as other drugstore brands. This bronzer is $15.29 by itself! But with some smooth use of my extra care bucks, the price came down to a little over $1, and now I am the happy owner of this beauty …
Recently I’ve been into blushes that sway more on the tan side. I just love the healthy glow they give, and I think they also have a slight slimming effect on the face since it can be used as a light contour when blended into the hollows of your cheeks.
When I was at Nordstrom a few days ago browsing through the Laura Mercier products, I was recommended their Illuminating Powder quad in Mocha Spice, which is right up my alley. The powder provides a warm, glowy flush that I think is perfect for the colder season! Continue reading →
Hello everyone! I’ve been wanting to try new foundations recently, which is an itch that comes regularly it seems. While purchasing a few new ones to try, I also gave in and got some new eyeshadows and other bits and pieces that I’m excited to try out!
