ELF Best Friend Eye Shadow Duo and other ELF Goodies

This no-buy I set for myself is downgraded to a low-buy haha.  Obviously, I love makeup, so let’s be real and give makeup a bigger space in my life.  I’m still being careful of the colors and products I choose.  It’s all about that balance 🙂  Anyway,  I recently ordered some things from ELF, and I am so excited about them because they seem really good for us pale princesses.  I’m probably most excited about about the new ELF Best Friend Eye Shadow Duo because the colors look promising and duos are easy and quick to use!  Read on to see my thoughts.

MAC Mehr Lipstick Review – A More Colorful Lipstick for Pale Skin

For the past few weeks, I have been experimenting with and loving a deeper lipstick shade than my usual pinky nudes.  I guess the recent decision to experiment more with makeup has brought on a lot of new colors!  Anyway, the lipstick I have been loving is MAC’s Mehr lipstick, and I think it is very flattering for pale skin.  Read on for my MAC Mehr lipstick review!

First off, the makeup artist at the MAC counter told me it was pronounced “mer”, like “er, I’m confused” with an m in front, for anyone out there wondering.  I know I was!

Now that that is cleared up, Mehr is a beautiful rosey mauve color in the tube.  I think it would look good on a wide range of skin tones.  If you’re pale, it will be more dramatic, if you’re darker, it can be a lovely nude.

Mac Mehr Swatch

On me, I think that Mehr leans towards a raspberry shade.  For reference, I am about an NC 15.  I quite like the effect.  It is a vibrant color yet still wearable without making me feel self-conscious.

Mac Mehr

In terms of formula, Mehr is a matte lipstick.  Although I have come to the conclusion that I hate most matte lip products, Mehr is the exception.  This baby is pretty creamy for a matte lipstick and comfortable.  It does not highlight all of the wrinkles and texture of my lips like most matte products.  If you use lip balm underneath, the lipstick is even more comfortable.  I like to use Aquaphor SPF 30 lip protectant underneath all lipsticks.  It takes away from the matte a bit, but I don’t mind.  The color is still beautiful.

Mehr’s staying power is phenomenal.  After a few hours, including eating and drinking, the color was still on my lips!  By the end of the day without reapplication, Mehr had faded to a pretty stain.  I usually only have to reapply once a day if I reapply.  Because it is a brighter color, I do have to be careful when applying this color.  I can’t just swipe it on without a mirror, but that is to be expected with brighter colors.

In terms of smell, Mehr smells like all MAC lipsticks- vanilla goodness!

If this is what MAC’s matte lipsticks are like, sign me up!  I need to try more!

Nude Lipsticks for Pale Skin That Won’t Wash You Out!

Nude lips, like red lips, are a classic. When you’re pale, however, you don’t want to go about sporting colors that wash you out even more as some nude colors can do.   I’m looking at you, Revlon’s Nude Attitude. *shudder*.  Although I probably will never be able to pull off a true, flesh-toned nude like the lovely, glowy J.Lo because it makes me look sickly, I have developed a small collection of nude lipsticks that I think are quite flattering for pale skin.  Read on to see my picks if you are struggling to find flattering nude lipsticks for pale skin!

I decided to test out a Tarte lip paint in Bestie.  Matte, brownish toned lips are everywhere right now, and I wanted to give it a try!  Bestie looked like a very flattering matte on the Sephora website, so I decided to start here.

Pale Skin Dark Lips Makeup

I think pale skin with dark, rich lip colors can be quite beautiful and very bold.  On one hand, it can look very chic.  On the other, it feels vampiric, which is perfect with Halloween around the corner!  Here is my attempt on pale skin dark lips makeup!

Recent Things – Laura Mercier Illuminating Powder Mocha Spice Quad and MAC Peach Blossom

Recently I’ve been into blushes that sway more on the tan side.  I just love the healthy glow they give, and  I think they also have a slight slimming effect on the face since it can be used as a light contour when blended into the hollows of your cheeks.

When I was at Nordstrom a few days ago browsing through the Laura Mercier products, I was recommended their Illuminating Powder quad in Mocha Spice, which is right up my alley.   The powder provides a warm, glowy flush that I think is perfect for the colder season! Continue reading
