Use Up That Makeup: I Hit Pan!! I Did it!!!

Guys,  I finally did it.  I hit pan on a powder makeup item for the first time!  I was swirling my powder brush in my Maybelline Fit Me face powder two days ago when I caught a glint.  A glint of metal.  The size of a period!!  But it was a glint nevertheless, and I cackled with joy and sense of achievement.  I hopped over to my fiance to show off the tiny pin point of a pan, to which he did not respond and maintained a bemused expression on his face.  Dudes just don’t get it.

I have to say that I was waiting and waiting for this day, and sometimes it seemed like it would never happen.

So without further ado, here it is:

Use Up That Makeup! May Makeup Basket and mini reviews

I know it’s a bit late but I was traveling….May is here, can you believe it? And it’s time for a new makeup basket and a Use Up that Makeup update!  I didn’t wear much makeup for the month of April, so there is no discernible progress on the products I chose for my April makeup basket unfortunately.  I thought about taking pictures of the April products, but they look exactly the same so I guess I won’t.  The only thing that looks satisfyingly low is my tiny Chloe Fleur de Parfum sample!  Now that May is upon us, I have switched out some of the products, and I am ready to use my May Makeup Basket!

Here are the products I want to focus on using in the May Makeup Basket:

Use Up that Makeup! 2017 Inventory and Thoughts on Decluttering

evil kermit shopping

Saw this hilarious evil kermit meme floating around 😀

I kind of didn’t want to do it, but I think it would be useful to post the inventory I recently did of my current makeup stash and what my goals are in terms of numbers.   I was hesitant to post these numbers because I am embarrassed, but hey, I should be open about this because it will keep me accountable! My goal is to use up that makeup!

So here it is, a snap shot of my current inventory as of 4/1/2017.  As you can see, it’s a very classy looking index card that I laminated with packing tape.  This may be a huge collection to some or a small one to others, but for me,  it’s too much.  My goal numbers are to the far right.  They’re what I’m aiming for after decluttering the makeup that I want to donate and using up what I have left. Once I start getting close to panning things, I’ll probably step it up and do some project pans, hopefully within this year!  I l.o.v.e other peoples project pans!  There is something inexplicably satisfying about seeing the silver pan at the bottom of a product.use up that makeup Continue reading

Shopping my Stash, Enjoying what I have! The April Makeup Basket

Recently Bobbi Brown had their Friends + Family sale where everything was 20% off.  Of course, I jumped on that sale and ordered some goodies online.  It’s the same percentage off as the big Sephora VIB sale in the fall, so I did not think I would get a better deal later. For quite a while now though, when I buy new makeup, I always feel  conflicted because I know I am spending a lot of money on makeup, and I know I do not need the new makeup.  So as I order more makeup online (although I love Bobbi Brown, I really do), in the back of my mind, I am thinking, What am I doing?  It’s like I am caught in this cycle of buying new makeup, then seeing something else that is new and promising in the masses of advertisements and youtube world, buying more makeup, and then forgetting to enjoy what I already have.
