This no-buy I set for myself is downgraded to a low-buy haha. Obviously, I love makeup, so let’s be real and give makeup a bigger space in my life. I’m still being careful of the colors and products I choose. It’s all about that balance 🙂 Anyway, I recently ordered some things from ELF, and I am so excited about them because they seem really good for us pale princesses. I’m probably most excited about about the new ELF Best Friend Eye Shadow Duo because the colors look promising and duos are easy and quick to use! Read on to see my thoughts.
Wow June is here. Can we please just stop? Anyway, it’s time for another edition of Use Up That Makeup! The June Makeup Basket and Progress pictures! Read on to see some nice dents I’ve made in my makeup.
First things first – the progress pictures for a few products in my May Makeup Basket. I’m pretty proud! *puffs up*
Well, it was good while it lasted 🙂 Today I purchased a piece of makeup and broke my strict no-buy until the end of 2017. I had a good run – about 2 months of not purchasing any makeup.
I’m not kicking myself for my purchase today though. After decluttering all of the products that I wasn’t using, the sight of which was giving me stress and anger, and having a nice detox from makeup, I feel like I’m in a better place with makeup. I still am steering clear of the buy buy buy mentality. I no longer idly browse makeup aisles (…except for today when I went in to get a spoolie for my eye brows), but I think this one small item should be fine. The no buy will definitely resume after this!
Now what was it that broke my will and my no-buy? This little guy:
I know it’s a bit late but I was traveling….May is here, can you believe it? And it’s time for a new makeup basket and a Use Up that Makeup update! I didn’t wear much makeup for the month of April, so there is no discernible progress on the products I chose for my April makeup basket unfortunately. I thought about taking pictures of the April products, but they look exactly the same so I guess I won’t. The only thing that looks satisfyingly low is my tiny Chloe Fleur de Parfum sample! Now that May is upon us, I have switched out some of the products, and I am ready to use my May Makeup Basket!
Here are the products I want to focus on using in the May Makeup Basket:
So, based on my recent posts, I clearly read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and loved it. I plan on KonMari-ing my whole life. I started with makeup because I think it’s the area of my life that needed the most attention. Clothes and shoes next, though I won’t be posting about that.
I had to go through my makeup a total of 5-6 rounds, sorting things that sparked joy in me, and things to be sanitized and donated or tossed. I will be posting some quick reviews on the products I let go. I had to go through so many rounds because letting go can be hard. At times I wasn’t sure if I should let something go. My thoughts were: it’s a nice product, and maybe I’ll use it later; or ugh, that item was on the pricier side. But in the end, if I am honest with myself, I would just rather use something else because I’ve been ignoring it all this time.
Saw this hilarious evil kermit meme floating around 😀
I kind of didn’t want to do it, but I think it would be useful to post the inventory I recently did of my current makeup stash and what my goals are in terms of numbers. I was hesitant to post these numbers because I am embarrassed, but hey, I should be open about this because it will keep me accountable! My goal is to use up that makeup!
So here it is, a snap shot of my current inventory as of 4/1/2017. As you can see, it’s a very classy looking index card that I laminated with packing tape. This may be a huge collection to some or a small one to others, but for me, it’s too much. My goal numbers are to the far right. They’re what I’m aiming for after decluttering the makeup that I want to donate and using up what I have left. Once I start getting close to panning things, I’ll probably step it up and do some project pans, hopefully within this year! I l.o.v.e other peoples project pans! There is something inexplicably satisfying about seeing the silver pan at the bottom of a product. Continue reading →
